Congratulations to Salmon poets Marie Cadden and Lorna Shaughnessy, joint winners of the 2017 Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust Poetry Competition!


2017 Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust Poetry Competition results. 
 
The joint winners are:

'The Dual Citizen' by Lorna Shaughnessy
and
'In Praise of Denial' by Marie Cadden.
 
Highly commended runners-up are:
'I want one part of my life to sing' by Winnifred McNulty,
'Gift' by Nollaig Rowan,
'Inventory' by Mary Lee,
& 'Welcome– the island speaks to refugees’ by Jessamine O’Connor.
 
'The Dual Citizen' and 'In Praise of Denial' by Marie Cadden will join the Poem for Patience fourteenth series and will be displayed in the waiting areas of Galway’s public hospitals.  Both Lorna and Marie will be presented with a framed copy of their poems at the Poems for Patience launch on Friday April 28 and will have an opportunity  to submit six poems for consideration for a Featured Reader at the Over The Edge: Open Reading series in Galway City Library.
