Poem from:

Breaking Hearts and Traffic Lights by Patrick Chapman

Mnemonic Set

Chapman, Patrick

The milk jug, sugar bowl, pottery mugs
That you stole for me in a restaurant
After a calendar shoot
—You’d have taken the tea pot
If someone had not
Been imbibing hash tea—
Recall early days
Cocooned in your flat:

We light a fire,
Swig gin from the naggin,
Exchange confidences,
Make love in a chair
And later, like kids,
Watch each other, surprised,
Take a leak.
